Basic First Aid Training (2 Days)

Training Objectives:

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Describe the responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Understand and demonstrate essential life saving techniques
  • Identify risks to others at the  workplace

Target group

Anyone wishing to acquire a basic skill in emergency first aid situations; it is suitable for both Workplace and domestic environments

The participants will learn

  • Introduction to First Aid
  • Incident Management
  • Life threatening conditions
  • Unconscious and NO Breathing (Resuscitation/CPR)
  • Unconscious BUT Breathing (Recovery Position)
  • Disorders of Airway and Breathing: (Choking, Asthma,)
  • Disorders of Circulation (Bleeding, Shock, Heart Disorders, Fainting)
  • Burns and Scalds
  • Medical Conditions, Epilepsy, Diabetes.
  • Fractures and Soft tissue injuries
  • Lifting and Carrying
  • Contents of a First Aid Box
  • Examination at the end of the course.

On completion of this course participants will be able to:

  • Describe and demonstrate basic emergency First Aid for babies and children
  • Take care of the baby/child until a more qualified help arrives
  • Identify and administer first aid to basic medical and Trauma emergencies
  • Identify risks to babies and children in the home and or workplace

  • Incident management

  • Responsibilities of a First Aider
  • Ways to Preventing cross infection
  • How to handle unconscious Children and Infants
  • How to perform CPR for babies and infants
  • Child and Infant Choking
  • Wounds and bleeding first aid
  • Febrile Seizures, Epilepsy, Diabetes and Asthma
  • Burns first aid
  • Poisoning
  • Fractures and soft tissue injuries

Work books will be provided, and a certificate issued at the end of the training.
